Produced from the oldest vines on Pritchard Hill, this wine beautifully expresses its pedigreed past showcasing the depth and extraction only mountain fruit can exude. Earning its deserved and distinguished title of Old Vine, this noble Bordeaux varietal has deep roots in Napa Valley history. David first planted these vines upon his arrival to Pritchard Hill in the 1970’s and has spent the last forty years tending to their care. Cane-pruned, dry-farmed and organically grown, these low yielding vines thrive in our iron rich, volcanic soils. Only carefully selected clusters are chosen to create this exceptionally seductive wine. Opaque, deep crimson hues hint at the voluptuously round, velvety rich and long, textured journey one is to take with this beautifully complex and regal wine.
The color is an intensely dark ruby red with deep purple hues. The aroma is spice driven with floral-spice and bark-earth tones of cherry wood and cedar followed by brambled blackberries, cassis and black cherries. The palate is plush, round and expansive with sweet, fine-grained tannins and flavors of chocolate covered cherries, fruit cake and mulled baking spices.
